New Delhi23 July. In view of the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar in the national capital under the banner of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has issued instructions to close all shops, offices, restaurants and other establishments in Connaught Place, the main commercial area of Delhi, by 6.30 pm on Thursday.

New Delhi Traders Association (NDTA) has issued this advisory on the instructions of Chairman and Vice Chairman of NDMC. The association has appealed for full cooperation from traders and establishment operators so that any kind of property damage or loss of life can be avoided.

It is noteworthy that CJP’s protest has been going on in Central Delhi for the last several days. This movement is against the alleged paper leak in NEET UG 2026. The protesters are demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
CJP leaders have also rejected the central government’s offer to initiate talks, even though Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced setting up fast-track courts to hear paper leak cases. Protests are still continuing in Jantar Mantar and Tolstoy Marg area, due to which the deployment of security forces has been increased.

Connaught Place being the major commercial center of Delhi, this decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of traders and prevention of loss. Follow all instructions to avoid uncomfortable situations and protect yourself from property damage, the NDTA statement said.
At present, the administration is monitoring the situation in the entire area. Traders and office goers are requested to complete their work on time and follow the ban.
