Will Yash’s new film be a hit on the basis of boldness and romance?

New Delhi .
Well-known South Indian film actor Yash’s upcoming much-awaited film ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups’ is continuously in the news in the media and social media even before its release. However, this time the main reason for the discussion of the film is not just its huge budget or famous star cast, but the bold and intimate content shown in its teaser, trailer and songs. In the recently released song ‘Madhosh’, the romantic chemistry of Yash and actress Tara Sutaria has been presented in a very aggressive manner. Since then, a debate has erupted among the film industry and the audience whether the makers are trying to gain publicity only on the basis of sensuous content instead of the actual story and action of the film.

The initial teaser released to promote the film featured Yash with Brazilian model Beatriz Taufenbach. In the song ‘Tabahi’ released after this, many controversial and intimate scenes were seen with Kiara Advani, for which there was a lot of criticism on social media. Now the new video released with Tara Sutaria confirms that the promotional campaign of the film is mainly woven around bold romance. In today’s digital era, where a few seconds of viral clips decide the fate of a film, this kind of promotional pattern is being considered a part of a well-thought-out strategy from a commercial point of view.

However, according to official information, this film directed by Geetu Mohandas is not limited to romance only. It is said to be a massive gangster action drama set against the backdrop of drugs and gold mafia between the 1950s and 1970s. Yash’s character in the film is that of a very dangerous and emotional gangster, which mainly includes elements of power struggle and family drama. Despite this, the promotional material so far has given prominence only to the romantic elements while keeping the core conflict of the story behind, thereby slightly diverting the audience’s attention from the actual plot.

This is not a new experiment in Indian cinema where boldness is used in the teaser or songs of a film to create buzz and the subject of the main film is completely different. Despite the huge controversy and trolling on the song ‘Tabaahi’, the makers are carrying forward the promotion in the same style. The actual performance of this film, which will be released in theaters on August 26, will depend on its script. At present, this aggressive and bold marketing strategy adopted by the producers is proving to be completely successful in keeping the film continuously in the center of discussion.
