According to the report, within the last 6 days, India has flowed approximately 19 crore cusecs of water towards Pakistan through Chenab river. Monsoon activity in Jammu and its upper catchment areas led to increased water levels in dams and barrages, forcing India to release excess water.

India’s strictness: This time the situation has become even more challenging for Pakistan because India has suspended the Indus Water Treaty after the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Earlier, under this treaty, India had to give advance information to Pakistan before releasing water in western rivers, so that it could prepare for floods. However, after the suspension of the treaty, India is no longer obliged to share any advance information.
