Anahat Singh Reaches World Junior Squash Championship Final: India’s number one squash player Anahat Singh has performed brilliantly and made it to the finals of the 2026 World Junior Squash Championship. In the semi-finals, she created history by defeating Egypt’s Barb Sameh 11-3, 8-11, 11-4, 11-6. With this, Anahat has become the first Indian player to reach the final of this prestigious tournament after 21 years.

Anahata has a golden opportunity

Before Anahat, Joshna Chinappa had made it to the finals of the World Junior Squash Championship in 2005. Now Anahat has a golden opportunity to become India’s first junior world champion.

Great start of Anahata

In the semi-final match, Anahat made a great start by registering a one-sided victory of 11-3 in the first game. However, third-fourth seeded Barb Sameh made a comeback in the match by winning the second game 11-8. After this, the Indian star played brilliantly and secured the ticket to the final by winning the third consecutive game 11-4 and the fourth game 11-6.

What did Anahat say?

After the victory, Anahat said, ‘I am very happy. I also had a close match against Barb in the British Junior Open a few months ago, so I knew that I would have to play my best game here. Yesterday I could not perform at my best, so I wanted to prove myself today.’

He further said, ‘I have played four World Junior Championships. Earlier there were defeats in the quarterfinals and semi-finals. My parents and coaches are very happy to reach the finals, but the tournament is not over yet.’

Will face Egypt’s Ruqayya Salem

Now in the title match to be held today, Anahat will face second seed Ruqayya Salem of Egypt. Salem entered the final by defeating her countryman Malika Elkaraksi 11-5, 11-9, 7-11, 11-9 in the semi-finals.

Salem described this achievement as very special after the disappointment of not qualifying for the championship last year. Anahat Singh has an opportunity to create history today by becoming the first Indian player to win the World Junior Squash Championship title.
