Maruti Suzuki has given the facelifted Brezza an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 7.39 lakh. The facelift sees the addition of a new turbocharged petrol engine, taking the total number of powertrains to three. The carmaker has now revealed the official mileage figures of the new Brezza. The CNG version continues to be the most fuel-efficient and returns 26.90 km per kg. The Brezza presents a wide spread of efficiency figures. Here is a closer look at these numbers.
The new Brezza is available in four broad trims- LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+. The newly introduced turbo-petrol engine is available on all four trims, and only with a six-speed manual transmission. Interestingly, its claimed fuel efficiency differs depending on the trim chosen. The Turbo variants of LXi and VXi are claimed to deliver 20.47 kmpl. The higher ZXi and ZXi+ Turbo variants are claimed to give 19.96 kmpl.
The difference between these is very small. However, the Brezza’s target audience is sensitive to even the slightest variation in mileage figures. The official numbers make one thing clear: the Brezza’s new turbo-petrol engine doesn’t bring about a huge drop in fuel efficiency. In the case of some of its rivals, we have seen turbo-petrol versions delivering unacceptable mileage. This will likely not be the case with the new Brezza.
The 1.5L naturally aspirated (K15C) petrol engine has been retained on the facelift as well. It is also available on all trims. Two gearbox options are offered- 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic (6AT). VXi is the first trim to offer an automatic transmission and the ZXi+ is only available with the 6AT gearbox.
The naturally aspirated petrol-manual setup is claimed to return 21.09 kmpl on the LXi and VXi trims. The same setup has a slightly lower claimed mileage of 20.81 kmpl on the ZXi trim. The automatic variants- VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+ have a claimed mileage of 20.17 kmpl.
The CNG version continues to excel with its fuel efficiency figures. On the facelift, CNG option is available on LXi, VXi and ZXi trims. It is only available with a manual transmission. The official fuel efficiency stands at 26.90 km/kg. This makes it the ideal choice for people who drive a lot. Making things better for owners, Maruti Suzuki has given the CNG version an underbody CNG tank. This is something that we first saw on the Victoris. It helps in ensuring plenty of usable boot space. This is an area in which the previous Brezza used to suffer significantly.
It is important to note that these are manufacturer-claimed mileage figures. Actual fuel efficiency may vary depending on driving style, traffic conditions, road quality and load.
In addition to the revision in powertrains, the facelift also focuses on improving the SUV’s styling and cabin experience. The new Brezza gets minor design changes and more features inside. The cabin now looks more premium. The seats get new leatherette upholster and the interior has a dual-tone theme.
The feature list has been revised. The likes of electric sunroof, automatic climate control, cruise control etc have been carried over from its predecessor. Additionally, front ventilated seats, 64-colour ambient lighting, 360-degree camera, head up display, and a larger 10.1-inch infotainment unit have been added to the range-topping variants.
The touchscreen has wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, built-in applications, Alexa integration and comes mated to a six-speaker ARKAMYS surround sound system. Lower trims get four-speaker units.
Talking of the powertrain outputs, the 1.0L Turbo Boosterjet engine produces 110PS and 170 Nm whereas the 1.5L naturally aspirated engine makes 103PS and 139Nm.
