BIG BREAKING: CJP ended his agitation, said- Government accepted our demands; Appeal to students to return home
After the meeting between the government and the Cockroach Janata Party, CJP has announced to end its agitation at Jantar Mantar. Union Minister JP Nadda, Jitendra Singh along with spokesperson Saurabh Das, Ashutosh Ranka from the Constitution Club announced this in a joint press conference. Saurabh Das said that all the protesters present at Jantar Mantar should now return to their homes.
Ranka said that talks were held with the government thrice in the last few days. All three of our demands have been accepted. These include resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, withdrawal of all cases and compensation of Rs 1 crore to NEET victims. Meanwhile, it was told that after four weeks the CJP spokesperson will meet the Union Ministers again. During this, there was discussion about the education system of the country and how to organize other competitive examinations including NEET paper in a better way.
Which demands were accepted?
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation accepted
Addressing the joint press conference, CJP said that the first and foremost demand of the movement was the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He said, “The government has completely accepted our demand and just some time ago today, Dharmendra Pradhan ji has resigned from his post.”
All FIRs registered against the agitators will be withdrawn
Referring to the second major demand, CJP leader Saurav Das said that in all the states where BJP or its allies are in power, all the FIRs registered against student agitators will be withdrawn. He said, “The government has given us a clear assurance that in future also no punitive action or action will be taken against any agitator or cockroach Janata Party (CJP) team members.”
Consensus also reached on compensation
In the statement, Ashutosh Ranka said that an agreement has also been reached on the demand of compensation of Rs 1 crore for the treatment and assistance of those injured during the protest. The government will present its official guarantee in writing on all these accepted points by Tuesday.
What did Union Minister JP Nadda say?
After the meeting, Union Minister JP Nadda said that a four-point written draft was submitted to the government on behalf of the agitators. He made it clear that the government has agreed to give maximum compensation as per the rules, withdraw the FIRs registered in all the states and study the demands given for education reforms. Also, communication will be maintained with his delegation in future also. At the end of the meeting, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das made a formal announcement saying, “After all our main demands are accepted, we withdraw our movement with immediate effect.”
