Big and very exciting news related to Pay Commission is coming out for central and state employees across the country. On one hand, while the central employees are eagerly waiting for the recommendations of the Eighth Pay Commission by the first half of next year, on the other hand, the state government has announced a big gift for the government employees and pensioners of West Bengal. The West Bengal government has officially announced the formation of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) of the state on July 22, bringing a wave of happiness among lakhs of employees in Bengal.

Big step of Suvendu Adhikari government, target to implement in this financial year

A day before this, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari had made it clear while talking to the media that the main aim of the state government is to implement the recommendations of the 7th State Pay Commission within the current financial year. After winning the elections in West Bengal in the month of May, the government there, fulfilling its election promise, had given the green signal to the formation of this Pay Commission panel. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had also promised this to the state employees during the election campaign, which is now being implemented. The most interesting thing is that the new panel that has been formed for this commission can also consider the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission of the Center in future, which means that the employees of Bengal can get double benefit.

What is the time limit and working style of the panel? (Terms of Reference)

According to the proposal issued by the Finance Department of West Bengal, this special panel of four members will conduct an in-depth review of the salaries, allowances and service conditions of all government employees and pensioners of the state. The main headquarters of this Commission will be in Kolkata, although if needed, it can also hold its meetings in other parts of the state or in the national capital Delhi. The panel has been directed to submit its report within 6 months from the date of publication of the proposal or within such time as may be decided by the government. The panel will recommend rationalizing the pay structure of employees working under the administrative control of various departments of the state, statutory and non-statutory bodies and corporations in accordance with modern needs.

Dearness Allowance (DA) and service conditions will be reviewed

This Pay Commission will not be limited to just the basic pay, but will also suggest an attractive new pay structure to attract and retain the best talent in the government service. Apart from this, the panel will completely review the existing Dearness Allowance (DA) rates and prepare a better formula for the times to come. Traveling Allowance (TA) and other special allowances and concessions will also be closely scrutinized.
