Jos Buttler Thanks Rohit Sharma for Signed India Shirt, Calls Him One of His Favorite Players

England wicketkeeper batsman Jos Buttler expressed gratitude on social media towards his opposite number Rohit Sharma, after the ODI series ended. Buttler said that he considers the India captain to be one of his “all-time favorite players.” He posted a picture of the signed Team India jersey received from Sharma, which he says he will treasure forever.

The gesture came after Sharma played a special innings in the third ODI at Lord’s. The India captain scored a century in the match, putting an end to the speculation around his ODI future. Sharma chased down a huge target of 388 with his usual flair and grace but fell short by a mere 27 runs.

By sharing the picture of a signed jersey on his Instagram, Jos Buttler expressed, “One opposition player’s shirt I’ve always wanted. One of my all-time favorite players. Will treasure this; thank you, @rohitsharma45”.

Rohit Sharma was the top scorer for India in the three-match ODI series, finishing with 175 runs at an average of 58.33 and a strike rate of 98.31. The batsman scored a stunning 138 runs in the final match of the series at Lord’s, which included 17 fours and five sixes. Sharma also scored his first-ever century at the legendary ‘Home of Cricket’.

Rohit Sharma scored a century in the company of Virat Kohli, who remained steady in the tense partnership and remained unbeaten at 74 off 60 balls. Despite their efforts, England won the match by 27 runs, clinching the ODI series 2–1.

Rohit Sharma is currently one of the best batsmen in limited-overs cricket. The veteran opener has amassed a fantastic tally of 11,895 runs in 288 ODIs at an average of 48.95, with 34 centuries and 62 fifties. Sharma is placed seventh in the all-time ODI run-scorers list and third on the list for India after Kohli and Tendulkar.

The right-handed opener has also had a prolific year in the 50-over format, with Sharma hitting 379 runs in nine innings at an average of 42.11, with a century and a half-century. Kohli and Rohit Sharma are set to face West Indies in a five-match ODI series at home, starting September 27.
