Hardik Pandya Injury Update and Return Suspense: Indian team’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is currently struggling with injury and fitness problems. For this reason, he was not included in the Indian team for the three-match ODI series against England. The special thing was that during the announcement of the team, BCCI did not even give any official reason for his absence, due to which speculations about his future intensified.
Hardik is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. During IPL 2026, he had earlier suffered from back spasm, due to which he could not play four matches of Mumbai Indians. His return was then further delayed by a quadriceps strain.

According to media reports, on June 9, Hardik felt slight discomfort in his leg, after which he got a scan done as a precautionary measure. The report was sent to Mumbai’s famous orthopedic specialist Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala. As per advice, he was given rest for 4-5 days and then a special training program for three weeks. He started light training from 16 June.
Bowling remains a challenge
Hardik Pandya’s fitness is continuously improving and he is expected to be fully fit by the first week of July. However, the biggest concern is about his ability to bowl 10 overs. According to a BCCI source, Hardik has not yet been able to achieve the required bowling workload and match fitness for ODI cricket, hence he was not included in the team.
Nitish Kumar Reddy is becoming an option
Indian team assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate recently hinted that Nitish Kumar Reddy could play Hardik’s role in the future. He said that Hardik is a different level of player when he is fully fit, but in the last one and a half years, Nitish has proved himself as a reliable all-rounder and his body is getting stronger.
Trade speculation increased after IPL
IPL 2026 was disappointing for Hardik. His performance with both bat and ball fell short of expectations and Mumbai Indians also could not progress beyond the league stage. After this, discussions regarding his future intensified. The reports also revealed speculations about his joining Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals.

At present, no decision has been taken by Mumbai Indians to trade Hardik.
