Kazakhstan’s initiative on Russia-Ukraine war, President told Putin – now is the time for peace

Omsk (Russia). Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev told Russian President Vladimir Putin that serious efforts should be made to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

Emphasizing the need to stop the conflict and move towards peace, he said that the continuous loss of life is a matter of concern.

During the Russia-Kazakhstan summit held in Omsk, Siberia, Russia, Tokayev said that no one has an easy way out of the current situation, because both sides are stuck to their respective positions.

However, he suggested that by freezing the conflict for the time being, the possibilities of further peace process could be worked on.

Tokayev said, “It is tragic that young people are losing their lives. All this must stop now.” He also said that he expressed his personal opinion publicly because people knew in advance that he was going to visit Omsk.

The President of Kazakhstan said that it is still difficult for many countries to understand the background and causes of the Russia-Ukraine war. He suggested that the talks be taken forward in 2022 on the basis of the talks held in Istanbul, thereby paving the way for the long-awaited peace.

During the meeting, President Putin told Tokayev that he would share detailed information about the developments related to the war in the talks between the two countries. However, he did not publicly respond to the ceasefire suggestion.
