‘Politics has become corrupt, now I will not contest any election’, Siddaramaiah’s big announcement

Former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah made a big announcement. He says that today politics has become corrupt. I will become the voice of people’s happiness and sorrow. But I will not contest the 2028 assembly elections. Siddaramaiah cited his age and said that it is no longer possible to work with the zeal and enthusiasm that he used to have.

He says that today people have to pay money for contesting elections. There is no place left for honest politics now. For this reason it has been decided not to contest any election in future. A day later, on Sunday, a long post was made from his X account. It is written in it, today politics has become corrupt. Therefore I will not contest the 2028 assembly elections. However, while remaining active in politics, I will continue to be the voice of people’s happiness and sorrow.

He further said that for five decades, the people of the state considered me as one of their own and guided me with love. I owe him this. Therefore, my future life will also be dedicated to public service.

‘Now I will not contest any election’

He further said, ‘The people of Varuna Assembly are once again urging me to contest the elections. But I have decided that now I will not contest any election. Earlier, when I used to contest elections, it was the people of the constituency who used to give us money and decide our victory. But today the situation is not like that.

My health is no longer the same: Siddaramaiah

Apart from corruption, Siddaramaiah also cited increasing age as the reason behind his decision. He said, ‘I am now 79 years old. The tenure of our government is still one and a half years left. By then I will be 81-82 years old. My health is no longer what it used to be. Now it is not possible to work with the same zeal and enthusiasm as before.

‘There is no place for honest politics’

The former CM of Karnataka said that now the time has come that if we contest elections, we will have to pay money to the people. Today’s politics has become completely corrupt. There is no room left for honest politics. Considering this environment, I have decided not to contest elections in future.

‘Never betrayed my conscience’

He further said that by 2028 I will be 82 years old. Then 50 years of my political career will be completed. I started my political journey as a Taluk Board member in 1978. I have seen both defeat and victory. But I am satisfied that I have never acted against the principles in which I believed, nor betrayed my conscience.
