Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishore has accused BJP of influencing voters through Jeevika Didis in the Bankipur Assembly by-election. He has given an ultimatum of 24 hours demanding action from the Election Commission and warned of protest if action is not taken.
Patna: Before the Bankipur Assembly by-election in Bihar, political allegations and counter-allegations have intensified. Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishor made serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that Jeevika Didis were being used to influence voters in the elections. He has sought intervention from the Election Commission in this matter.
24 hour ultimatum to the election commission
While talking to the media, Prashant Kishore said that his party has already filed a complaint on this matter with the Election Commission. Giving the Commission time to take action within 24 hours, he said that if no action was taken, he would stage a protest outside the Election Commission office along with his party leaders from Monday.
He alleged that the Commission should immediately intervene to keep the election process fair.
BJP accused of influencing voters
Jan Suraj Pramukh claims that Jeevika Didis associated with the self-help group project of the state government are being used for election campaigning. According to him, the beneficiaries of government schemes are being pressurized to vote in favor of BJP.
Prashant Kishore alleged that some beneficiaries are being given the message that if they do not support BJP, their benefits of government schemes may be affected. However, there has been no official response from the concerned party on these allegations.

Prashant Kishore said that this information was shared on the official social media account of Patna District Administration that Jeevika Didis are making voters aware about voting. They allege that efforts are being made to influence elections under the guise of an awareness campaign.
At the same time, these allegations have not been confirmed by the administration or the Election Commission, nor has any official statement been issued in this regard.
Voting on 30th July, results will come on 3rd August
Voting for the Bankipur assembly by-election is to be held on July 30, while counting of votes will take place on August 3. This seat became vacant after the resignation of former MLA Nitin Naveen. All major political parties have intensified their preparations for the elections.
Political analysts believe that the round of allegations and counter-allegations may intensify before voting. In such a situation, the role of the Election Commission will be important in ensuring fair and transparent elections.
