Know about wrong food combinations in Ayurveda

Dietary rules against Ayurveda

Dietary rules against Ayurveda: Lemon is used to enhance the taste of food and is considered a good source of Vitamin C. But, if you put it on cucumber in salad, in curd or in tomato dish, it can be harmful for health. In Ayurveda, some food combinations are not considered favorable for the body, which are called Viruddha Ahara.

Ayurveda’s anti-diet theory

According to Dr. Saroj Gautam, Principal of Prem Raghu Ayurvedic Medical College, UP, in Ayurveda, food is considered not only on the basis of taste or nutrition, but according to its properties, nature and digestive capacity. When two foods have different digestive effects, it can lead to an imbalance in the body. This may weaken the digestive fire and cause heaviness in the stomach or indigestion.

Why is the combination of lemon and milk wrong?

Milk is considered a complete food in Ayurveda, whereas lemon is sour and acidic. When lemon is mixed with milk, the milk curdles. Lemon acid breaks down the milk proteins, which can cause difficulty in digestion. This can cause problems like gas, indigestion and acidity in the stomach.

Consumption of cucumber and lemon: beneficial or harmful?

According to Ayurvedacharya, cucumber is rich in water and cooling, while lemon is acidic. The combination of these two may cause digestive problems to some people, but from a scientific point of view this combination is not harmful.

Tomato and lemon combination

Tomatoes and lemons are both sour and contain natural acids. According to Ayurveda, consuming excess sour foods can aggravate Pitta Dosha. However, both also contain nutrients, so they cannot be called completely harmful.

Eating rules according to Ayurveda

In Ayurveda, emphasis has been laid on taking food according to the needs and digestive capacity of the body. One should have a balanced diet and avoid mixing too many foods together. Every person’s body is different, so what is beneficial for one person may be harmful for another.

Is the combo of these things with lemon dangerous?

The purpose of Ayurveda is not to scare people, but to advise them to eat in the right way. If a healthy person consumes these things in small quantities occasionally, there is usually no problem. People who have digestive problems should exercise caution.
