IND vs ZIM 3rd T20I: The Indian cricket team defeated Zimbabwe by 35 runs in the third and final T20I to clinch the series 3-0. Batting first after winning the toss, India scored 192 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, the Zimbabwean team chasing the target could score only 157 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. This is India’s first T20 series win under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, as Team India had previously suffered defeats against Ireland and England under his leadership.

Dominance of Indian bowlers

Chasing a target of 193 runs, Zimbabwe lost crucial wickets in the opening overs. In the powerplay, Indian fast bowler Yash Thakur dismissed Dion Myer and captain Sikandar Raza on 2 consecutive balls in the fourth over to take Zimbabwe’s score to 34 for 3. For India, Mayank Yadav bowled superbly and took 3 wickets, while Yash Thakur got 2 successes. Ashok Sharma and Ravi Bishnoi took 1 wicket each. However, the Indian fielders dropped 4 catches during the match.

Zimbabwe lost despite Ryan Berl’s fifty

Ryan Burle single-handedly fought for Zimbabwe with an unbeaten 54 off 43 balls with the help of 5 fours. He shared a 60-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Wesley Madhevere (28 runs). Apart from this, Ben Curran contributed 20 runs. But the lack of an aggressive start left the team 35 runs short of the target.

Superb fifty from Suryavanshi

Batting first earlier for India, Suryavanshi showed maturity to complete his second T20 international fifty in 31 balls. Opener Abhishek Sharma flopped for the sixth time in a row, but Suryavanshi added 75 runs for the second wicket with Ishan Kishan (29 runs) and 50 runs with captain Shreyas Iyer (27 runs). At the end of the innings, Rinku Singh scored 25 runs and Tilak Verma scored 11 runs not out. For Zimbabwe, Brad Evans took 2 wickets, while Sikandar Raza, Blessing Muzarabani and Wesley Madheware took 1 wicket each.
