The history of Punjab has been written by the bravery and sacrifices of the heroes: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann

Chandigarh: On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today paid tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives protecting the sovereignty and integrity of the country. He said that the unique bravery, courage and incomparable service of the soldiers will always inspire the coming generations.

CM paid tribute to the martyrs    

The Chief Minister paid tribute to the martyrs of the Kargil war by laying a wreath at the War Memorial. He met the families of the martyred soldiers and ex-servicemen, distributed five two-wheelers to the disabled ex-servicemen and inspired the NCC cadets as well as the cadets of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute and Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, Mohali to join the armed forces and serve the nation. The Chief Minister reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Punjab Government towards the welfare of the families and ex-servicemen of the soldiers martyred while protecting the country.

Sharing a glimpse of the occasion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann wrote on social media platform ‘X’, "Today, on the occasion of 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas, I respectfully salute the 527 brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the unity, integrity and pride of our country. These included 65 brave sons of Punjab, whose sacrifice fills every Punjabi with pride."   

he adds, "Martyred soldiers do not belong to just one family, they are the biggest heritage of the entire country. The freedom and security we enjoy today is the result of the supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers. Remembering his martyrdom and honoring his great legacy is the true tribute to him. Jai Hind."   

Addressing the public meeting, the Chief Minister said that the unparalleled sacrifice of our brave soldiers will continue to inspire new generations to serve the nation with patriotism, dedication and selflessness. He said that during the Kargil war, 527 soldiers made the supreme sacrifice while protecting the country, which included more than 65 brave sons of Punjab. His bravery and martyrdom will always remain a source of pride and inspiration for every Indian.

The Chief Minister said that the history of Punjab has been written with countless sacrifices and only the society which respects its history makes continuous progress. He said that our martyrs are not just of their families but of the entire country. Their sacrifice can never be forgotten and it is the collective responsibility of all of us to cherish and honor their great legacy.

Paying tribute to the brave soldiers, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that be it the snowy peaks of Kargil or the scorching desert of Jaisalmer, our brave soldiers always stand firm to protect the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country. He said that remembering the Kargil War of 1999 fills every Indian with pride, because in that difficult time the entire country stood united with a spirit of unmatched patriotism.

The Chief Minister said that Kargil Vijay Diwas symbolizes the unparalleled bravery, courage and sacrifice displayed by the Indian Armed Forces in extremely difficult circumstances. Every Indian is proud of the extraordinary bravery shown by our soldiers in this war. The debt of his dedication towards the country can never be repaid.

Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment towards the welfare of soldiers and their families, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that as a mark of respect for the supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers, the Punjab Government provides financial assistance of Rs 1 crore to the family of each soldier martyred in the line of duty. He said that this is a humble effort to honor the invaluable services of the brave men and women soldiers of our armed forces.

Referring to his interaction with NCC cadets and cadets of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute and Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, Mohali, the Chief Minister said that serving the country through the armed forces is one of the noblest tasks.

He called upon the youth to take up this sacred responsibility and said that the Punjab government will provide all possible support to realize their dreams. He said that these youth can become an inspiration for the coming generations and can further strengthen the feeling of patriotism and patriotism. Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat and senior officers of the armed forces were also specially present on this occasion.

Chief Minister paid tribute at the war memorial   

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann paid tribute to the brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifice while protecting the country and laid a wreath at the War Memorial. During this, the tune of ‘Last Post’ was played in honor of the soldiers and two minutes of silence was observed. The Chief Minister also met ex-servicemen and families of martyred soldiers and appreciated their invaluable services and unwavering dedication towards the country. After this, he also took the salute of the grand Guard of Honor presented by the PAP Band under the leadership of PAP Group Commander DSP Davinder Singh Saini.
