Big terrorist conspiracy foiled before Independence Day: Punjab Police caught main operative of BKI module with IED, know the whole matter

Jalandhar. The plot of a major terrorist attack in Punjab before the Independence Day was foiled by the Punjab Police in time. In a joint operation of Counter Intelligence Jalandhar and Jalandhar Dehat Police, a terrorist module of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI supported Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) has been busted and its main operative has been arrested. An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) made from 1.3 kg of high explosive has been recovered from the possession of the accused.

The arrested accused has been identified as Satbir Singh, resident of village Padiyana, Adampur (Jalandhar). Police have also recovered a black Platina motorcycle (PB-08-ET-6736) from him.

Action taken on intelligence information-
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said that counter intelligence had received credible information that an active member associated with BKI was going to bring explosive material on the instructions of foreign handlers. Based on the information, Counter Intelligence and Jalandhar Dehat Police arrested the accused by conducting a joint blockade near village Dhandor.

The IED was filled with iron pellets and ball bearings.
During the search, the IED recovered from the bag of the accused was filled with a large quantity of iron pellets and ball bearings. According to the police, it was planned with the aim of causing maximum casualties and spreading panic in the state. Due to timely action, a major terrorist attack plot was foiled.

Wires found connected to ISI supported network-
Preliminary investigation has revealed that Satbir Singh was working on the instructions of ISI-backed BKI handlers sitting abroad. The police is now investigating the forward and backward links of this terrorist network, so that the entire module can be exposed.

Case registered under these sections-
A case has been registered against the accused at Patara police station under sections 113(1) and 113(3) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS), sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act and section 25(1B)(A) of the Arms Act. At present, intensive interrogation of the accused is going on.

Search for foreign handlers and local helpers-
The investigating agencies are trying to find out which handlers sitting abroad were operating this module. Besides, it is also being investigated who provided shelter, financial help and other logistical support to the accused at the local level. The police are also investigating the supply chain of explosives, financial transactions and the role of possible associates. Officials say that the investigation is progressing rapidly and soon strict action will be taken against other people involved in this conspiracy.
