According to police, Sarah Gilson (43) was shot and killed by her husband Jeremiah ‘Shawn’ Duffy (48) after breaking into their home in Owasso, Oklahoma on July 23, 2026, and then committed suicide. The incident happened when Sara Gilson shared a TikTok video on July 11. In this, she used the ‘Netflix Documentary’ trend, in which users pretend to sit for an interview on the streaming platform.

Although this trend has mostly been used for small incidents and pranks, Sarah Gilson used her clip to poke fun at the breakdown of her marriage due to her husband’s alleged child abuse. In the video, Gilson wrote: ‘Preparing for the time when Netflix will release a documentary about my soon-to-be ex-husband, who I have just found out is a pedophile.

Sara did not appear in court

According to a protection order filed by the girl’s mother on June 10, Duffy was caught by another coach kissing and touching a 15-year-old girl on the youth basketball team he coached. The couple’s marriage ended in 2021, when Sarah Gilson filed two protection orders against her husband. According to ‘The Oklahoman’ report, those orders were rejected at that time because Sarah Gilson did not appear in court.
