‘Where did you get the funds to distribute so much food?’ Junaid’s allegation – Police picked him up, kept him in darkness all night and left Mussoorie.
Mohammad Junaid, who provided food and water to the people protesting at Jantar Mantar, has made serious allegations against Delhi Police. Junaid claims that on Friday night some people claiming to be Delhi Police officers detained him and one of his companions. He alleged that during interrogation he was blindfolded and kept in darkness the entire night. Later he was released in Mussoorie.
Allegation of detention while returning from hospital
According to Mohammad Junaid, he was returning from Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, where he had gone to get treated for dog bite. During this time, some people allegedly stopped him and took him away. Junaid, while describing the entire incident in a video, said that during the interrogation, he was asked questions about the arrangements for food and water given to the protesters.
Inquiries regarding the source of funding also
Junaid claimed that the next day an officer asked him where the money to arrange food for the protesters came from. In response to this he said that food and water are provided through donations. Additionally, supporters of the protesters also order food as per their need.
Junaid returned from Mussoorie to Delhi in the morning by cab.
After the incident, the legal team associated with the students’ protest took detailed information from Mohammad Junaid regarding the alleged detention and interrogation. Junaid returned from Mussoorie to Delhi by cab on Saturday morning and later shared the details of the incident that happened to him through social media.
Police started investigation into the allegations
After Mohammad Junaid’s allegations came to light, the police has started investigating the case. Even before this, controversy had arisen regarding keeping the family of CJP volunteer Mohammad Junaid in police custody. However, the police at that time rejected allegations that the family was detained.
At present, the police is investigating the allegations made by Junaid. The actual circumstances of the incident will become clear only after the police investigation is completed.
