Jantar Mantar protest: FIR registered against students not yet returned, Delhi Police waiting for government order

The cases registered during the student protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi have not been withdrawn yet. Delhi Police says that no official order has been received from the government yet in this regard. As soon as the order is received, the legal process to withdraw the cases will be started.

According to police officials, in connection with the Jantar Mantar violence and related incidents, 20 cases were recorded. in these 14 cases demonstration and violence While one case is of flying a drone without permission. Other cases relate to alleged attacks on journalists and policemen.

According to sources, after getting the government’s approval, Delhi Police will send a letter on behalf of the prosecution to the Lieutenant Governor (LG) seeking permission to withdraw these cases. After getting the approval of LG, the concerned court will be informed that the police does not want to take further action in these cases. The final decision will be taken by the court.

However, cases filed individually by journalists will not be automatically withdrawn. In such cases, consent of the complainants will be necessary. Only cases registered by Delhi Police can be withdrawn under the government process.

meanwhile Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) Has accused the government of not following the agreement. party spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka Said that action against the protesters is continuing and students have been arrested in several states. He has demanded immediate withdrawal of the FIR registered against all the protesters, release of the arrested students and not to take action in such cases in future.

Ranka warned that if the government does not follow through on its assurances and does not share timelines related to legal matters, the organization will consider resuming the agitation.

At present, the official order of the government is awaited in the whole matter. Only after the order is issued will it be clear when and how the process of withdrawing the cases registered against the students will be started.
