Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that in view of the demands of students across the country and the recent student protests, the government has introduced a very important bill in Parliament to prevent paper leaks and examination malpractices. He said that even after such a huge student protest, if this issue is not discussed in the Parliament, then it is not good for the Parliament and democracy. Parliament is the biggest platform for debate and discussion and hence, such important issues should be discussed there.
Speaking to reporters at the Parliament campus, Rijiju alleged that the Congress and some opposition parties were disrupting the discussion on the bill and disrupting the proceedings by raising slogans, showing black cards and in other ways. He appealed to the Congress and opposition parties to understand the sentiments of the students of the country and instead of creating chaos, take part in the discussion on this important bill.
He said that the Prime Minister has taken a big decision to reform the system and a task force has been formed. This bill has been made only for this. He said that this historic bill has strict and time bound provisions to prevent question paper leaking, and there is also a provision for strict punishment for those found guilty, which will further secure the future of the students. He appealed to all the parties to have a serious and positive discussion on this bill, keeping the interests of the students at the forefront.
