New Delhi: There was a huge uproar in Parliament today during the ongoing discussion on the Anti-Paper Leak Bill. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi fiercely cornered the Central Government on the issue of paper leak and raised sharp questions about the action taken against students during the protest in Delhi. An interesting twist came during his speech in the House when he sarcastically asked the Lok Sabha Speaker to smile.

“RSS preachers have hollowed out the education system”

Speaking in Parliament, Priyanka Gandhi said that the government has hollowed out our entire education system from within by filling it with RSS preachers. He alleged that the government has complicated matters further by forcefully bringing in NTA and centralizing the entire system. Instead of increasing every year, the share given to education in the total budget of the country is actually continuously decreasing.

Broken trust of students and dark truth of paper leak

Making strong allegations, Priyanka Gandhi said that the country’s examination and education system has completely failed and due to continuous paper leaks, students have completely lost their trust in the government. He said that there have been serious shortcomings in the education system, but till date not a single mafia member who leaked the paper has been punished.

Referring to the anti-paper leak protests that took place in Delhi on July 20, he asked why did the security forces use tear gas shells and pellet guns against the peacefully protesting students? He directly asked the government that what was the need to use guns like pellet guns and AK-47 on the youth of the country? Were they terrorists of the country? Who gave the order to fire pellet guns? Did the Prime Minister or the Home Minister? The country is demanding answers to this today.

Papers leaked 152 times in 10 years

Taking aim at the government’s handling of examination irregularities, Priyanka claimed that in the last 10 years, there have been 152 paper leak incidents in the country, directly affecting crores of students. He said that despite the problem being so big, no concrete action has been taken against the mafia.

Statement on Prahlad Joshi and provocative uproar in the House

Suddenly a huge uproar started in the House after Priyanka Gandhi’s attack on making Prahlad Joshi the new Education Minister. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has chosen as the Education Minister a person who in the past had expressed his consent and happiness over the release of convicts in a serious case. Strong objection was raised by the ruling party on his statement.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused him of making extremely derogatory statements in Parliament and character assassination. Rijiju demanded that these statements of Priyanka Gandhi should be immediately removed from the proceedings of the House and she should apologize for it.

Expressing his views on the Paper Leak Bill, he said that no concrete measures have been suggested in this bill to stop paper leaks. How will this build confidence among the youth of the country? Attacking the Prime Minister, he said that perhaps he desperately needs to change his advisors as they are completely cut off from the ground reality. Nothing will be achieved by merely forming new committees, no matter who heads them. Referring to the Radhakrishnan Committee, he said that not a single recommendation of it has been implemented till date.

He further said, “Nothing will be achieved by making false allegations against the opposition in Parliament or making hollow political moves. If you want to win back the trust of Gen Z, then just making new videos from different angles on the phone will not work. The Prime Minister now needs to change not the angle of the camera, but the angle of his heart…”
