New Delhi: Medical candidates have the opportunity to become officers in the ITBP Recruitment 2026. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force has invited applications for a total of 282 positions for Super Specialists, Specialists, and Medical Officers. Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply. The recruitment process will include documentation, interviews, physical standard tests, and medical tests instead of a written exam.
ITBP Recruitment for 282 Medical Officer Posts
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) has launched a recruitment process for eligible candidates in the medical field. This recruitment drive will fill the Group A positions of Super Specialist Medical Officer, Specialist Medical Officer, and Medical Officer. Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply for a total of 282 vacancies.
Talking about the vacancies according to the posts, it includes 5 posts of Super Specialist Medical Officer (Second in Command), 162 posts of Specialist Medical Officer (Deputy Commandant) and 115 posts of Medical Officer (Assistant Commandant).

Medical Qualification for different posts
For the Super Specialist Medical Officer position, candidates must possess an MBBS degree from a recognized institution with a postgraduate degree or diploma in the relevant specialty, along with relevant advanced medical expertise and prescribed experience.
For the Specialist Medical Officer position, a recognized medical qualification, such as a PG degree or diploma in the relevant discipline, is required. Candidates must also have experience in the relevant field for a specified period.
Meanwhile, for the position of Medical Officer (Assistant Commandant), a recognized medical qualification, permanent registration with the Medical Council, and completion of a compulsory rotating internship are required. Under certain circumstances, candidates currently completing an internship are also allowed to apply.
Age limit and salary as per the post
The age limit for this recruitment varies by position. The maximum age is 50 years for Super Specialist Medical Officer, 40 years for Specialist Medical Officer, and 30 years for Medical Officer. Reserved category candidates will receive age relaxation according to government regulations.
Salary also varies by position. Super Specialist Medical Officers (SMOs) in Level 12 receive a monthly salary of ₹78,800 to ₹209,200. Specialist Medical Officers (SMOs) in Level 11 receive a monthly salary of ₹67,700 to ₹208,700, and Medical Officers in Level 10 receive a monthly salary of ₹56,100 to ₹177,500. Eligible candidates will also receive other allowances as per rules.
Selection will be done without written examination
The unique feature of this recruitment is that candidates will not be required to appear for any written examination. Eligible candidates will be called for the next stage of the recruitment process after their applications and documents have been verified.
First, there will be a documentation process, which will verify educational qualifications, internships, medical registration, age, and other necessary certifications. This will be followed by a 200-point interview. The interview will assess general knowledge, medical subjects, academic knowledge, decision-making, and social skills.
Candidates will then undergo a Physical Standard Test (PST) and a medical examination. Candidates who meet the prescribed physical standards and are medically fit will advance to the final selection process.
