A major administrative reshuffle was seen in Himachal Pradesh on Monday. The government has simultaneously changed the responsibilities of three IPS officers. This change includes many important decisions, from the new posting of DIG Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi to handing over the command of cyber crime to Amit Yadav. Along with this, the government has launched Himachal Pradesh Police Service.
In this reshuffle, 2019 batch IPS officer Amit Yadav has been given the responsibility of SP Cyber Crime, CID Shimla, while Mayank Chaudhary has been made the Commandant of Second IRBN Sakoh. At the same time, after the services of 2012 batch IPS officer Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi were handed over to the Personnel Department, discussions have intensified regarding his next role.
Change in command of 2nd IRBN
Amit Yadav was earlier posted as Commandant in 2nd Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBN), Sakoh, District Kangra. Now he has been given the command of SP Cyber Crime in CID Shimla to handle the cases related to cyber crime. IPS officer Mayank Chaudhary of Amit Yadav's batch has also been transferred. Till now he was posted as leave reserve in Police Headquarters, Shimla. The government has appointed him as the Commandant of 2nd IRBN Sakoh, District Kangra in place of Amit Yadav. In this way, in place of Amit Yadav, Mayank Chaudhary will now take charge of the Sakoh battalion.
What responsibility will Sanjeev Kumar get?
The services of UPSC 2012 batch IPS officer Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi have been handed over to the Department of Personnel, Government of Himachal Pradesh with immediate effect. Sanjeev Gandhi was earlier working on the post of DIG Traffic, Tourist and Railways. Discussions are intense at the secretariat level regarding the new role of Sanjeev Gandhi. There is talk that in the coming days, he may be given the responsibility of Managing Director (MD) in a government undertaking. However, no official order has been issued by the government yet in this regard.

Along with the reshuffle of IPS officers, Himachal Pradesh government has also issued transfer and new posting orders of 54 HPS officers. In this large-scale police administrative reshuffle, ASP and DSP rank officers have been given new responsibilities in different districts and police units of the state. Officers have been deployed in many important units including Police Headquarters, CID, Cyber Crime, Vigilance, ANTF and Indian Reserve Battalion.
