Wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Porel, who represents Delhi Capitals in IPL and Bengal in domestic cricket, has been arrested by the police in a case related to rape allegations.

The woman has made serious allegations against the cricketer like raping, assaulting and threatening to kill her by promising marriage. However, Porel has already denied the allegations leveled against him.
According to the police, this case is related to Dumdum area of West Bengal. Officials said the cricketer was detained from Emami City area. The District Superintendent of Police has also confirmed the arrest. The investigation into the matter is currently ongoing and the veracity of the allegations will be determined during the legal process.
What allegations did the medical student make?
According to the complainant, she and Abhishek Porel knew each other for the last three years and were in a relationship. The woman alleges that last year there was tension in the relationship between the two and after this the cricketer started maintaining distance from her. In the complaint given to the police, the woman alleged that Porel had physical relations with her on the promise of marriage. According to the complaint, he later refused to marry. Apart from this, the woman has also made allegations of assault and allegedly threatening to kill her.
On the basis of these allegations, the police have registered a case under relevant legal provisions. Information has come to light that sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) as well as the Information Technology Act have been involved in the case.
Arrest after order of Calcutta High Court
Police action in the case intensified after the proceedings of Calcutta High Court. According to reports, following the court's instructions, the police took action to arrest Abhishek Porel. Police officials said that after receiving the complaint, investigation into the matter was started and further legal action was taken on the basis of available information.
However, arrest does not mean proof of charges. In any criminal case the accused is not considered guilty until the final decision of the court. In this case also, only after investigation of the allegations and judicial process will it be decided how much truth is there in the allegations.

Abhishek Porel has already rejected the allegations leveled against him. The allegations have been declared false by the cricketer. In such a case, both the allegations of the complainant and the side of the cricketer will be part of the investigation.
