Amit Shah Writes To Lok Sabha Speaker Says He Is Ready For A Discussion On The Student Agitation

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to hold a discussion in the Lok Sabha regarding the student agitation on NEET paper leak. He said that the government is fully ready to discuss this issue.

In a letter to the Speaker, Amit Shah said, “Sir, you are aware that Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has given consent on behalf of the government to discuss the student agitation regarding NEET exam in Parliament in the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee.”

Amit Shah mentioned in the letter that even before the opposition's request, the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 had already been discussed in the current session of Parliament. In this, no opposition MP expressed any opinion in the House regarding NEET. Despite this, the government is ready to discuss the issue again.”

Home Minister Amit Shah requested the Speaker of the Lok Sabha to discuss with the opposition and decide the time with mutual consent. In the letter, he wrote, “I request you to discuss with the opposition and please allot as much time as you deem appropriate from today with mutual consent. I wish to participate in the discussion on this issue by being present in the House during the scheduled time and am ready to answer all the questions of the opposition.”

Referring to democratic values, Amit Shah said, “In democracy, solutions emerge only through discussion and dialogue. I have unwavering faith in democracy and democratic institutions and I believe that this House is only for discussion and dialogue.”

He urged the Speaker of the Lok Sabha to please discuss this important topic in a good environment after discussing it with the leaders of the opposition, so that all the honorable members of the party and the opposition can present their valuable opinions and views on this topic.
