Patna. The government has given a big update regarding the ongoing special land survey to systematize and digitalize land records in Bihar. Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal reviewed the ongoing survey work in five districts. The survey work in Sheohar, Arwal, Jehanabad, Lakhisarai and Sheikhpura is now said to be in the final stage.
Speed will soon increase in other districts also
During the review, officials were instructed to maintain speed and transparency in the survey process. After the completion of the work in these five districts, preparations are being made to speed up the survey by selecting the districts for the next phase. The government aims to complete the entire special land survey by December 2026.
What will be the benefit to land owners?
After completion of the survey, maps, khatian and rights records related to the land will be available in digital form. This will help in clarifying the actual status of the land and prevent disputes like fraud, illegal possession and multiple sales of the same land. The process of filing, rejecting and family division is also expected to become easier.
Ryots will not have to pay any fee
The process of special land survey has been kept completely free by the government. Land owners do not have to pay any fee to Amin, Kanungo or camp in-charge for this. During the survey, Amin will reach the spot and check the boundaries of the land and a digital record of the plot will be prepared with the help of modern equipment.
