The activity of south-west monsoon is continuously increasing across the country. Due to the cyclonic circulation of upper air formed over the Bay of Bengal and the low pressure area formed in Central India, the weather patterns have changed once again. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon trough is passing through the northern and central parts of the country, due to which heavy rains are likely to occur over vast parts of North, East and Central India within the next 48 to 72 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of torrential rains with strong winds and thunder in about 23 states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Delhi-NCR. 1. Weather changed in Delhi-NCR, alert of rain and storm. The weather patterns have changed rapidly in the capital Delhi and adjacent Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. Rain and winds: According to the Meteorological Department, there will be cloud cover in Delhi-NCR and there will be light to moderate rain. During this period, there is a possibility of strong winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Drop in temperature: Due to rain and cold winds, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 34 to 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 28 to 29 degrees Celsius, which will provide relief to the people from the humid heat. 2. Heavy rain with stormy winds in Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has issued yellow and orange alerts in many districts of Uttar Pradesh. Monsoon remains quite effective from east to west UP. Affected districts: There is a warning of heavy rain for the next few days in many parts including the capital Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Meerut, Noida, Agra, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Bahraich and Mirzapur. Strong storm and lightning: During this period, there is a possibility of stormy winds blowing at a speed of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour and lightning (thunderstorm) in some districts, due to which people have been advised to take precautions. 3. Warning of torrential rain in Bihar and Jharkhand. Widespread impact of monsoon trough is also being seen in the eastern Indian states of Bihar and Jharkhand. Condition of Bihar: Alert of torrential rain has been issued in the districts of North and East Bihar like Patna, West Champaran, East Champaran, Siwan, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Purnia, Katihar and Kishanganj. The Meteorological Department has warned farmers to avoid going to the fields and beware of thunderstorms. Rain in Jharkhand: Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Hazaribagh districts of Jharkhand may receive torrential rains and winds up to 60 km per hour for the next two days. 4. Administration on alert in hilly states and other parts There is a danger of landslides and flash floods due to heavy rains in hilly states like Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The administration has asked tourists and local residents to remain alert in sensitive areas. Apart from this, intermittent heavy to heavy rains are also expected in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chhattisgarh and Odisha for the next few days. Appeal to be cautious: The Meteorological Department and the local administration have appealed to the people to stay in safe places during bad weather. Avoid standing in open spaces, near trees and electric poles and check the latest weather conditions before leaving for the trip.
