Former England pacer Stuart Broad and his ex-teammate If Buttler made their presence felt on the For the Love of Cricket podcast. The duo recently picked their top ten all-rounders of all time and named some big cricketers.
The pair named Sir Garfield Sobers at the top of their list as the best all-rounder of all time. Sobers recently passed away, just days before his 90th birthday. The former West Indies star scored over 8000 Test runs and also picked up over 200 wickets. His score of 365 not out stood for over 36 years before Brian Lara broke the record.
At number two, they name Jacques Kallis, one of the premier players of the modern era. The former South Africa star was one of the pillars for his team with the bat and ball. Kallis amassed over 13,000 runs in Test cricket and over 11,000 runs in the ODI format. Not to forget, he also took 565 wickets in both formats of the game.
At number three, Broad and Buttler named their former skipper and teammate Ben Stokesfollowed by Ian Botham. Both the former English all-rounders were known to be aggressive batters and key wicket-takers. Botham ended his career with over 300 Test wickets, while Stokes, who recently retired, is considered a modern-day great.
Two India players on the list
At numbers five and six, the pair named are Kapil Dev and Imran Khan. Both players were key performers with the bat and ball for India and Pakistan, in the 1970s until the early 90s. Kapil took 434 Test wickets, which was once the highest in World cricket, and amassed over 5000 runs. Kapil and Imran also led their respective sides to World Cup wins in 1983 and 1992.
England’s Andrew Flintoff was placed just ahead of Australian Keith Miller and South African legend Shaun Pollock. The last man to make the list was Indian star Ravindra Jadejawho is set to feature in the Test series against Sri Lanka starting this Saturday.
Jadeja has picked up 348 Test wickets and scored over 4000 runs. He also has taken 232 ODI wickets from 210 matches and is just 95 runs short of the 3000-run mark. The veteran star, who retired from T20I cricket after the 2024 Title win, has also claimed 54 wickets and scored 515 runs in the shortest format of the game.
