Google Pixel Watch 5: Google has introduced its latest smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 5in India alongside the new Pixel 11 smartphone lineup. While the smartwatch retains the familiar rounded appearance of its predecessor, the company has focused on improving its AI capabilities, health tracking tools and battery performance.
A major highlight of the Pixel Watch 5 is deeper Gemini AI integration allowing users to access information and perform certain tasks more conveniently. Google has also introduced a new Health Guardian feature aimed at providing users with important health and emergency-related insights.
Google Pixel Watch 5 Price in India
The Pixel Watch 5 starts at ₹42,999 for the 41mm variant in India, while the larger 45mm model is priced at ₹45,999.
Both variants are being offered as Wi-Fi-only modelswith no LTE version announced for the Indian market.
The Pixel Watch 5 will be available for purchase in India from August 20.
Pixel Watch 5 Design and Display
Google has retained the rounded design language seen on earlier Pixel Watch models instead of introducing a major visual redesign.
The smartwatch features an AMOLED LTPO display with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 60Hz. The screen is protected by a customised version of Corning Gorilla Glass offering additional durability for everyday use.
The familiar circular design continues to give the Pixel Watch its distinctive appearance while allowing Google to focus on internal upgrades.
Snapdragon Chip and More Storage
Powering the Pixel Watch 5 is the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor.
Google claims the new chipset delivers improved performance along with around 50% faster memory speeds compared with the previous generation.
The smartwatch also comes with 64GB of internal storage giving users more room for apps, data and other content.
Gemini AI Gets a Bigger Role
Artificial intelligence is one of the biggest areas of focus for the Pixel Watch 5.
Google has expanded Gemini integration making the AI assistant more useful during everyday smartwatch interactions. The new raise-to-talk functionality allows users to communicate with Gemini directly from the watch.
The assistant can also provide information from services such as Gmail and Google Calendar reducing the need to take out a connected smartphone for certain tasks.
Pixel Watch 5 Health and Fitness Features
Google has strengthened the health-monitoring capabilities of the Pixel Watch 5 with a range of sensors and tracking tools.
The smartwatch includes:
- ECG with AFib detection
- SpO2 blood oxygen monitoring
- Breathing-rate tracking
- Sleep monitoring
- GPS-based activity tracking
- Support for 50+ workout and activity modes
These features are designed to help users monitor their health and fitness trends while exercising, sleeping or going about their daily routines.
New Health Guardian Feature
Another major addition is Google’s Health Guardian feature.
The tool is designed to provide users with a broader view of important health indicators, including sleep information, longer-term blood-pressure patterns and other health measurements.
The feature is intended to help users identify changes in their health data and receive alerts about potentially important situations.
Pixel Watch 5 Battery Life
Battery performance has also received an upgrade, according to Google.
The 41mm Pixel Watch 5 is claimed to deliver up to 30 hours of battery life while the larger 45mm model can reportedly last for up to 40 hours on a single charge.
Actual battery performance can vary depending on factors such as display settings, GPS usage, workouts and health-monitoring features.
IP68 Protection
The Pixel Watch 5 carries an IP68 rating giving it protection against dust and water exposure. This makes the smartwatch better suited to everyday activities and workouts than a device designed only for occasional splash resistance.
Pixel Watch 5: What’s New?
With the Pixel Watch 5, Google has chosen evolution rather than a complete redesign. The familiar circular body remains, while the major changes are concentrated on Gemini AI, health monitoring, processing performance, storage and battery life.
With prices starting at ₹42,999, the Pixel Watch 5 will compete in India’s premium smartwatch segment when sales begin on August 20.
