DA demand increased every 3 months and merger formula
According to reports, recently 'Bharat Pensioners Samaj' in Delhi presented several proposals on its behalf before the 8th Pay Commission. Under the current system, central employees and pensioners get Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) twice a year. But the pensioners society says that in view of the rising inflation in today's time, a wait of 6 months is too long, hence DA should be increased every three months.
Along with this, the organization has also demanded that when dearness allowance reaches 25 percent, it should be merged with basic pay. Let us tell you that at present the DA of central employees has reached 60 percent, but no rule is yet applicable regarding DA merger.
Biggest bet on fitment factor and minimum salary
The pensioners society has not only demanded to increase the minimum pension to Rs 45,000, but has also proposed to increase the fitment factor for government employees to 3.83. If the government accepts this demand, then the minimum basic salary of central employees, which is currently low, can directly increase to Rs 69,000. The main argument of the organization is that in view of the increasing expenses in today's era, it is very important for the employees and retired people to get financial relief to live a good and respectable life.
Apart from this, the organization has also raised a strong demand for expanding the scope of the family unit. Till now the number of family units is considered to be 3, which has been demanded to be increased to 5.2. The logic behind this is that parents should also be involved in this.
When will the 8th Pay Commission report come?
Let us remind you that the 8th Pay Commission in the country was constituted on 3 November 2025. The Pay Commission has a total of 18 months to prepare its report, half of which has already passed. On the basis of this final report of the Commission, the Central Government will take the final decision regarding changes in the salary and pension of crores of central employees and pensioners of the country. It is noteworthy that a new pay commission is constituted every 10 years.
