Gaya ji: A tragic accident happened on Friday in Gaya Ji district of Bihar. Four people who went inside the well to repair the motor died due to suffocation due to poisonous gas. The incident took place in Garh Karmouni village of Dobhi police station area.
How did the incident happen in Garh Karmouni?
According to the information, Chamari Manjhi of the village had gone to the well to repair the broken motor. When he did not come out after some time, his sons Dilchand Manjhi, Vikas Chaudhary and Vijay Chaudhary descended into the well one by one to save him. But due to the poisonous gas already accumulated inside the well, all four became unconscious and could not come out.
On receiving the information, the police and villagers took out all four after much effort, but by then it was too late. SSP Sushil Kumar confirmed that the cause of death was poisonous gas filled in the well. The dead included a father and son and two other villagers.
Government announced financial assistance
Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary expressed deep sorrow over this incident. He directed the officials to immediately give ex-gratia amount of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the four deceased. The local administration has also assured the families of all possible help.
Last month a similar accident happened in Noida also
This is not an isolated incident. Last month, two people died of suffocation while cleaning the STP tank in Aldico Society, Sector 150, Noida. Shashikant Sharma (40), resident of Karauli, Rajasthan, went inside to clean the tank and became unconscious.
The condition of security guard Akash (22), who came to save them, also deteriorated. The fire team pulled out both of them, but the doctors declared them dead in the hospital. Knowledge Park Police has arrested contractor Manoj Jain in this case and investigation is going on.
4 died due to suffocation in the mine in Ramgarh, Jharkhand
A similar accident took place in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand on June 13. Four laborers died after inhaling poisonous gas while mining in a 40 feet deep illegal mine in the forest near Argada.
The deceased included Deva Bedia, W Bedia, Kishore Rawani and Ashish Kumar. Police sent the bodies for post-mortem. CCL officials said that this place was outside their command area.
What is the lesson?
The three incidents of Gaya, Noida and Ramgarh make one thing clear – landing in closed places without safety equipment can prove fatal. The government and administration now need to implement strict rules and awareness campaigns so that such incidents do not happen again.
