Mallikarjun Kharge targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his speech given from the Red Fort on Independence Day. Referring to the contribution of old Congress leaders and governments, he said that the role of Congress in the development of the country cannot be ignored. Kharge also alleged that the current government was not giving adequate priority to the interests of the youth, the poor and the weaker sections.
Tezzbuzz Desk- Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge reacted sharply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address from the Red Fort. Taking a dig at PM Modi, he said that he is happy that the Prime Minister did not say that the world was created because of him and is saved because of him. Kharge said that the Prime Minister highlights the achievements of the government in his speech, but the contribution of earlier governments and leaders in building the country should also be remembered.
Referring to the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Kharge said that he played an important role in creating a strong foundation for India's development. According to him, Nehru laid emphasis on the development of science, technology and institutions. Kharge also remembered the contributions of Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. He said that from Green Revolution to strengthening the country's military strength and laying the foundation of information technology, Congress governments took many important decisions.
He claimed that during the Congress rule, many steps were taken towards giving rights related to food, education and employment to the common people. Kharge said that long-term policies and institutional building also play a big role in the development seen in the country today. He alleged that the present government is not serious about the problems of the youth and in many parts of the country the youth are agitating for their demands.
'Will give the weaker sections their rights'
Mallikarjun Kharge said that Congress will continue to work for the advancement of the weaker and deprived sections. He said that instead of suppressing the voice of the youth, there is a need to understand their problems. Referring specifically to Gen Z, Kharge said it is not fair to call them traitors. He said that Congress will try to strengthen the spirit of unity, peace and brotherhood in the country.
Kharge also targeted BJP and RSS. He alleged that both the organizations want to disrupt efforts for unity in the country. He said that Congress will continue to move ahead with its agenda and raise voice for the rights of the weaker sections.
'The poor are getting poorer, the rich are getting richer'
The Congress President also attacked the government on economic inequality. He alleged that due to the current policies, pressure on the poor and weaker sections is increasing, while the wealth of the rich is continuously increasing. Kharge said that the government should pay more attention to the problems of the poor and youth.
He also raised questions regarding Parliament and constitutional institutions. Kharge alleged that institutions like Election Commission, media, universities, DRDO and ISRO are under the influence of the government. He also targeted the government regarding the proceedings of Parliament and said that discussion and accountability in the House on important issues is necessary.
Referring to Nehru's contribution in the field of science and technology, Kharge said that significant investment was made during that period towards strengthening scientific thinking and institutions in the country. Apart from this, he also raised the issue of alleged irregularities in donations related to Ram temple. Kharge said that if any irregularities related to donations come to light then immediate action should be taken against the people involved in it.
In this way, Kharge's remarks after Prime Minister Modi's speech on the occasion of Independence Day have once again intensified the political allegations and counter-allegations between Congress and BJP.
