Dehradun. A very emotional and worrying news has come out from Chamoli, the border district of Uttarakhand. Rescue operation has been intensified to search for Border Roads Organization (BRO) Havildar Pankaj who was washed away in the swollen drain of Niti Valley. Seeing the plea of the helpless family members on social media, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami immediately took cognizance of the matter and has given strict instructions to the agencies engaged in the search operation to take all possible steps.
Actually, due to heavy rains, Tamak drain located in Neeti valley of Chamoli had suddenly come in spate. Meanwhile, Havildar Pankaj posted in BRO went missing due to the strong current of the drain. When no clue was found even after several hours of the incident, his family members living in Pithoragarh appealed for help on the internet media.
Six agencies are jointly running a big search operation
The administration has used all its strength to find Havildar Pankaj safely. Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, rescue teams are conducting search operations in extremely challenging and inaccessible hilly areas. Teams of Indian Army, BRO, ITBP, local police, district administration, NDRF and SDRF are jointly engaged in this operation.
Officials say that every nook and corner of the overflowing drain and surrounding rocky roads is being searched. Incessant rains and the high speed of rivers and streams are definitely creating challenges, but the soldiers are engaged in rescue operations without stopping.
CM Dhami himself talked to the family on phone
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself spoke to the family members of Havildar Pankaj on phone. While consoling the family, the CM said that the government is standing with them with full sensitivity in this difficult time. He assured the family that no stone would be left unturned to find Havildar Pankaj.
The Chief Minister's Office is continuously monitoring this entire rescue operation. On the other hand, the District Magistrate of Pithoragarh also met the victim's family and talked to them and assured all necessary help at the local level. The administration says that every moment information is being given to the family and the relief team is continuously deployed on the front.
