Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was present in this program. Sonia Gandhi had asked to stop 'Vande Mataram' midway. When the national anthem 'Vande Mataram' was being presented as per protocol, Sonia Gandhi showed disrespect towards it and insisted on stopping it.
The BJP leader said, “It seems that this is a deliberate act with the intention of disturbing the peace and it is an insult to the national anthem of our country. Therefore, I request that appropriate legal action be taken immediately against Sonia Gandhi, as this act falls under the category of crime under Section 3 of the “Prevention of Insults to National Honor Act” and Sections 195 and 352 of the Indian Justice Code.
Vikas Puttur warned that if FIR was not registered, he would file a private complaint in the High Court. He also said that if there is any insult to the national song or national honour, then legal action should be taken. Puttur also asked the police to ensure that there is no political interference in the matter.
In his complaint to the police, the BJP leader wrote, “I greatly respect my country India and have always had deep respect for its flag, national emblem, national anthem, songs, culture, traditions and values.
