Ukraine's big drone attack on Russia, claims to have shot down more than 800 drones, many people died

Russia Ukraine War: Ukraine launched a massive drone attack on Sunday targeting several areas of Russia. According to Russian officials, at least six people have died in this attack. This is being described as one of the biggest air strikes carried out by Ukraine since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that its air defense systems destroyed 822 drones in the overnight operation. According to the ministry, a large number of drones were moving in the direction of Moscow, which were stopped on the way.

83 year old man lost his life

After the attack, security arrangements were strengthened in many areas of Russia. Yuri Slyusar, governor of the Rostov region of south-western Russia, said that five people had died due to drone attacks in three cities of the region. At the same time, an 83-year-old man lost his life when a drone fell on a private house in the Moscow region.

Russia’s attempt to stop a major attack

Earlier on Saturday, Ukraine had also attacked in Samara region of Russia. Industrial establishments were targeted in this attack. Samara premier Ivan Noskov said Russia’s air defense system tried to stop a major attack, although some industrial areas were damaged. He said that medical assistance was provided to the affected people.

Ukraine has been increasing long-range attacks on Russian military bases, defense industries and energy-related installations for some time. Ukraine says that the purpose of these attacks is to put pressure on Russia’s combat capability and economic resources.

Progress Center located in Samara was targeted

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia should feel the cost of war. He claimed that the Ukrainian military targeted the Samara-based Progress Center, an institute associated with Russia’s space agency Roscosmos and involved in the manufacturing of rocket technology and electronics.

According to Zelensky, the Flamingo missile manufactured in Ukraine was used in this attack. He also claimed that Russia’s Savasleyka airbase, which is located a long distance from the Ukrainian border, was also targeted.

Attacks on each other’s targets throughout the night

Ukraine has increased its use of long-range weapons in recent months. Earlier on August 10, Russia and Ukraine had attacked each other’s targets overnight, in which many people were reported dead and injured in both the countries. The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has now entered its fifth year and both sides are continuously targeting each other’s military and strategic targets.
