Bilaspur. A 70-year-old elderly woman died due to chimney fire in village Mode of Takhatpur area of the district. The accident happened when the woman slept after lighting the fireplace at night after power failure.
When the family members went into the room on Sunday morning, they found her lying on the ground in a burnt condition. After the information, Takhatpur police reached the spot and started investigation by sending the body for post-mortem.
Shaheen Bai Patel (70), resident of village Mode, was sleeping in her house. It is being told that she often slept with a fireplace near her bed. On the night of the incident, after the electricity was switched off, she lit the fireplace and slept.
During this time somehow a fire broke out from the chimney. Within no time the fire engulfed them. The family members could not come to know about the incident at night.
When Shaheen Bai did not come out of the house till late in the morning, the family members got worried. When he went into the room, he saw that the elderly woman was lying on the ground in a burnt state. After this the family immediately informed the police.
As soon as the information was received, the team of Takhatpur police station reached the spot. After inspecting the spot, the police took necessary action and sent the body for post-mortem.
At present the actual cause of the fire has not been revealed. The police is investigating the entire matter. The complete picture of the accident will be clear only after the post-mortem report and investigation. There is mourning in the family after the accident.
