new exam schedule
Subject Exam Date Time Shift
English 9 September 2026 9 am to 12 noon Shift-1
Commerce 9 September 2026 3 PM to 6 PM Shift-2
Sociology 10 September 2026 9 am to 12 noon Shift-1
NTA had conducted examination for 87 subjects.
No additional fees will be charged from the candidates appearing for re-exam. NTA had conducted the UGC-NET June 2026 exam between June 22 and 30 for 87 subjects. After the examination, candidates had complained about many mistakes in the question papers of English, Commerce and Sociology.
NTA had formed an expert committee to investigate the complaints. The committee’s investigation revealed that the question papers of these three subjects had many serious flaws related to typing, translation and grammar along with factual mistakes. Names of famous scholars were misspelled, topics of the books were not clear and some old questions were also asked again.
The Committee recognized that it is not possible to correct these mistakes through the challenge process alone. In such a situation, keeping in mind the interest of all the candidates and fairness of the examination, it would be appropriate to conduct the examination again. NTA has also released the re-exam dates for all three subjects.
Information about exam center and admit card soon
Information related to exam city, center and admit card for re-exam will be released soon on the official website of NTA. Candidates have been advised to keep checking the website from time to time.
No impact on results of remaining 84 subjects
NTA has clarified that the results of the remaining 84 subjects will be released as per the schedule. Due to re-examination of three subjects, there will be no delay in the process of JRF allotment, eligibility of Assistant Professor and admission to PhD.
The number of candidates for eligibility for Assistant Professor will be decided on the basis of 6 percent of the number of candidates appearing in the original examination or re-examination held in June. Also, the number of seats already decided will not be reduced under any circumstances.
