Cyclist crushed by speeding truck in Banda, death

To tie. A young man riding a bicycle died after being hit by a speeding truck on Sunday evening near Paprenda intersection on the Banda-Tanda National Highway in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh.

The accident was so severe that the wheel of the truck passed over the head of the young man. After the incident, the driver fled leaving the truck on the spot. Police have taken the vehicle into custody and sent the body for post-mortem.

The accident happened near Paprenda Tirahe at around 5.30 pm on Sunday evening. Santosh Verma (32), resident of Ragauli village of Baberu police station area, was going towards Tindwari on bicycle.

Meanwhile, a truck laden with ballast coming from Banda hit him. After the collision, Santosh fell on the road and the wheel of the truck ran over his head. He died on the spot due to serious injuries.

It was told that Santosh used to support his family by working as a labourer. Apart from wife Maya Devi, there are four children in the family. According to the wife, Santosh along with his brother-in-law Rahul had come to Tindwari to hire a DJ for the Chhathi program organized at his parents’ house in Terhi Mafi. This accident happened at Paprenda intersection while returning after taking DJ.

According to eyewitnesses, after the accident, the truck driver parked the vehicle in front of the residence of the police station in-charge and ran away towards Sonar Gali. As soon as information about the accident was received, the police reached the spot and took the truck into custody.

Sub-Inspector of Tindwari police station, Anjali Pandey said that the Panchnama of the body has been filled and sent for post-mortem. Police is busy searching for the absconding truck driver. After the accident, there is chaos in the family of the deceased and the condition of the wife and children is crying and crying.
