National Testing Agency (NTA) has canceled the examinations of English, Commerce and Sociology subjects. Re-examination of these subjects will be held in September.
NET Exam Cancelled: New Delhi. The controversy related to UGC NET June 2026 exam has increased. National Testing Agency (NTA) has canceled the examinations of English, Commerce and Sociology subjects. Re-examination of these subjects will be held in September. On this issue, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has made a scathing attack on the Modi government and NTA at the Centre. He said that the mistake lies with NTA, but the students have to bear the brunt of it.
Rahul Gandhi raised questions
Rahul Gandhi said in a social media post that the UGC NET examinations held between June 22 and 30 were canceled after about two months. He alleged that wrong questions and old questions were repeated in the paper. Rahul Gandhi raised the question whether these question papers were already leaked. However, the allegation of paper leak has not been confirmed yet.
‘Education system has become an extraction machine’
Rahul Gandhi said that he wants to reiterate what he said in Kota, Dehradun and Prayagraj. According to him, the country’s education system has now become an ‘extraction machine’ for students. He alleged that this system is snatching away money, time, mental peace and confidence from the students. Despite this, students do not get guarantee of employment.
Questions on accountability of NTA and government
The Congress leader also raised questions on the accountability of NTA and the central government. He said that like other institutions of Modi government, NTA also does not take responsibility for its mistakes. Rahul Gandhi said that the resignation of the then Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was the first step, but not the last. He also demanded accountability of the leadership of NTA.
Exam will be held again in September
According to the notice of NTA, the examination of all three subjects will be conducted again in September. The English exam will be held on 9th September in Shift-1. Commerce paper will be conducted on 9th September in Shift-2. Whereas, the Sociology exam will be held on September 10 in Shift-1. According to the agency, serious factual, translation and typing errors were found in the question papers of these subjects.
Students will not be charged fees again
Giving relief to the students, NTA has clarified that no additional examination fee will be charged from them for re-exam. The agency has also said that there will be no cut in the number of seats. The results of the remaining 84 subjects will be declared as per the schedule.
Rahul Gandhi in support of students
Rahul Gandhi encouraged the students appearing for the exam again in September. He said that it is not the students’ fault. According to him, students are suffering from a system which is not even capable of conducting the examination process properly. This entire matter has once again intensified the debate on the credibility of competitive examinations and the functioning of NTA in the country.
