In the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, Outer Delhi Warriors won by 21 runs in a high-scoring match against Old Delhi 6 on Sunday night. All-rounder Harsh Tyagi made important contributions with both bat and ball in the team’s victory.
Talking about his performance, Tyagi said, “When I went out to bat, there were six overs left and the target was to reach 200 runs.
I scored around 30 important runs. My first two overs of bowling were difficult, but in the last two overs I concentrated on controlling the runs.”
Talking about his bowling strategy in crucial overs, he said, “I knew these slog overs might cost some runs, but I was confident in my preparation.
I have worked a lot on yorkers and slower balls throughout the year in Delhi, so that the batsmen have trouble guessing. The most important thing was to use the ball properly. The plan I made on the field was implemented well.”
Talking about his all-rounder role, Tyagi said, “I give equal importance to both my batting and bowling. I see myself as a bowling all-rounder who can bowl full overs and contribute with a good strike rate in the lower order.”
Batting first, Outer Delhi Warriors scored a huge score of 219/5 in 20 overs. Yashaj Sharma played a stormy inning of 86 runs in 36 balls. He made a partnership of 120 runs for the first wicket with Priyansh Arya. Arya scored 30 runs in 21 balls.
After this, Harsh Tyagi played a quick inning of 32 runs in 15 balls, while Akshay Saini took the team beyond 200 by scoring unbeaten 49 runs in 23 balls. For Old Delhi 6, Digvesh Rathi took three wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs.
Chasing the target of 220 runs, Old Delhi 6 got a great start from Aryan Gaur and Samarth Seth. Both added 104 runs for the first wicket. Gaur scored 65 runs in 37 balls and Seth scored 42 runs in 24 balls.
However, Aman Chaudhary turned the tide of the match by taking three wickets in his first three overs. Due to these shocks, the run pace of Old Delhi 6 slowed down and the target kept getting further away.
Lalit Yadav and Ashwini Chillar tried to handle the innings, but in the last over, Old Delhi 6 needed 41 runs to win. Outer Delhi Warriors finally won the match by 21 runs.
