New Delhi:Controversy has increased after an alleged audio message of a private school owner regarding Independence Day celebrations in Thrissur, Kerala surfaced. Dr. Raju Davis, proprietor of Dr. Raju Davis International School, Mala, expressed his displeasure over the students and parents who did not attend the program on August 15. After his message asked students to go to Pakistan, student organizations started protesting.
According to the information, after the Independence Day celebrations were over, a voice note of Raju Davis was sent in the WhatsApp group of parents and students of the school. In this he said that the school had arranged buses on all routes to bring the children to the program and take them back. About one lakh rupees were spent extra for this. The school owner said that he could have saved this money and kept it with himself, but his aim was to make the children understand the importance of Independence Day. He claimed that more than half of the parents did not send their children to the function.
In the audio, he said that such students will not be allowed to enter the class the next day and their parents will come to school to answer. During this, he said in anger that such people should go to Pakistan and they are not eligible to live in the country. His statement quickly went viral on social media.
When the controversy escalated, he clarified and apologized.
After the audio surfaced, resentment increased among parents and local people. Seeing the matter gaining momentum, Dr. Raju Davis released another audio and clarified his statement. He said that his words were misinterpreted and he had not said this to target any particular religion. He also said that he had taken the name of Pakistan keeping in mind its relations with India after 1947. However, the controversy did not subside and the school owner later publicly apologized for his words.

Political activities also intensified in Kerala regarding the matter. Congress student organization KSU and leftist student organization SFI demonstrated against the school owner. KSU workers demonstrated outside his house and protested on the main road. Police reached the spot and controlled the situation by detaining some of the protesters who were blocking the road. At present, the controversy regarding the statement of the school owner is going on and the reactions of different organizations are coming to the fore on the matter.
