Ferrari's first electric car Luce made a new record, the first model was auctioned for ₹ 370 crores.

Automobile Desk: Italian supercar manufacturer Ferrari has set a new global record at the very beginning of its electric vehicle (EV) journey. The debut model of the brand's first all-electric car 'Ferrari Luce' created history even before it officially hit the roads. This car was purchased at an all-time record price of $ 40 million (approximately ₹ 370 crore in Indian currency) at the prestigious charity auction of 'RM Sotheby's' held in Monterey city of America.

This vehicle is the first production body of Ferrari's electric era, designated as 'Chassis 0'. This is the reason why there was extraordinary enthusiasm about it among automobile lovers and collectors. The entire historic amount raised from the auction will be transferred to the Ferrari Foundation, which will be used to promote education and social welfare initiatives globally.

This auction has broken many old records of the automotive world. Earlier in the year 2025, the customized 'Ferrari Daytona SP3' model was sold for approximately $26 million, surpassing which 'Luce' has become the most expensive new Ferrari ever. When the company unveiled this vehicle globally in May 2026, its starting price was fixed at 5.5 lakh euros (about 6.36 lakh dollars). However, due to the historical importance of the first production model, the bids at the auction reached many times the base price.

The design of this all-electric supercar has been prepared in collaboration with 'LoveFrom', the famous design studio of former Apple Chief Design Officer Jony Ive. This special model offered for auction was customized under Ferrari's 'Taylor Made' programme. The main theme of this car is based on 'Light'. It uses a very complex paint technology, which causes the car's exterior color to change between green and purple depending on the viewing angle and lighting. Additionally, the interior of the car includes premium leather materials, customized alloy wheels, exclusive brake callipers and Ferrari's new Exclusive badge.

This vehicle is also very powerful in terms of technical capabilities. The 'Ferrari Luce' uses four independent electric motors, which provide power directly to each wheel. This setup generates a massive total power output of 1,050 CV (approximately 1,035 horsepower).

  • Performance: This electric supercar can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds.
  • Top Speed: Its maximum speed has been recorded at 310 km/h.
  • Battery and Range: The car has a powerful 122 kWh battery pack and an 800-volt electrical system, which is capable of delivering a driving range of approximately 530 kilometers on a single charge.
  • Seating and Weight: Weighing approximately 2,260 kg, this 5-seater luxury car offers a perfect balance of performance and practicality.
