If there is any important work related to the bank tomorrow and for this it is necessary to go to the branch, then first get information about the bank holiday. According to the holiday calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed in some states on August 19, 2026.

Business News: If you have any important work related to the bank and you are preparing to go to the bank on Wednesday, 19th August, then first it is important to know whether banks are open in your city or not. According to the bank holiday list of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), bank branches in Agartala will remain closed on August 19, 2026. However, banks will operate normally in most of the rest of the country.

Therefore, it would not be correct to consider the holiday of 19th August as a bank holiday for the entire country. Bank holidays vary depending on the local festivals and occasions of the state and city.

Why will banks remain closed on 19th August?

According to the RBI holiday calendar, bank branches in Agartala have been given holiday on August 19 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur. Due to this, the respective branches of government, private and regional rural banks will remain closed in Agartala, the capital of Tripura. Customers living in Agartala should plan for the next working day for important work related to the bank branch.

Especially for cash withdrawals, check related operations, document submission or other branch-based services, one may have to wait for the bank to open.

Banks will remain open in Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur

The holiday of 19 August is not a nationwide bank holiday. Bank branches in major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Patna, Jaipur are expected to open normally. This means that customers living in these cities can do their regular bank related work at the scheduled time. However, to know the local operating hours or holiday status of a particular bank branch, it would be better to check the relevant bank information.

The closure of bank branches does not mean that all the banking options of the customers will be closed. Today, mobile banking, internet banking, UPI and digital payment services are generally available 24 hours. Customers can avail online fund transfer, balance check, bill payment and many other digital banking services. However, some work which requires personal visit to the bank branch will have to be done after the holiday.

When will banks remain closed in August 2026?
