Hannah Waddingham has recalled an unexpected spa encounter with her Ride or Die co-star Octavia Spencer. The actress shared the story while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, during which guest host Rosie O’Donnell reacted with a joke of her own.

Hannah Waddingham has recalled a humorous spa incident involving her friend and co-star Octavia Spencer. The actress shared the story during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and guest host Rosie O’Donnell praised the chemistry between Waddingham and Spencer.
“Thank you,” Waddingham said before explaining that she and Spencer became close after being paired for an Amazon project. Following the Amazon upfronts, where they had promoted the show, the actresses decided to visit a spa because they wanted to relax and spend time together. “It was really amazing actually because she and I, you know how it is. You get thrown together and you kind of you don’t know if the chemistry is going to be right,” the actress said.
The spa visit led to an unexpected moment when the actresses found themselves trying to operate the controls in a shower. Waddingham recalled that both she and Spencer were naked while attempting to figure out how the modern buttons worked. “So then cut to myself and Octavia Spencer stark bollock naked in a shower trying to work out the modern buttons,” she said.
As they tried to figure out the controls, another woman walked around the corner, saw them and quickly walked away. O’Donnell playfully added, “What an idiot. I would have stripped naked and jumped right in there.”
Waddingham and Spencer star together in Ride or Die, an action-comedy series available on Amazon Prime Video. The show premiered on July 15, 2026, and received a positive response, earning a 96 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes.
