Lakhisarai, Read Bureau. A stampede broke out in Bihar's famous Ashokdham temple on the third Monday of Sawan after rumors of electrocution. Seven devotees are reported dead in the accident, while more than eight people are said to be injured. The injured have been admitted to Sadar Hospital, Lakhisarai for treatment. There is also a possibility that the death toll will increase.
It is being told that the accident happened on the route leading from Ashokdham station to the temple. According to the information, an electric pole along with the wire had fallen on this route during the night. On Monday morning, a large number of Kanwariyas and devotees were reaching towards the temple for Jalabhishek. Meanwhile, a rumor spread about current flowing in the pole, which suddenly created panic in the crowd.
After the rumor, devotees started running here and there to save their lives. During this stampede, many people got buried under each other. There was hue and cry on the spot after the incident. Local people and devotees started relief and rescue operations and pulled out the buried people.
As soon as the information was received, police and administration teams reached the spot. The injured were immediately taken to the hospital, where their treatment was started. The reasons for the accident and the circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the administration.
