New Delhi: Monsoon is once again active in many parts of the country. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert in many states from North India to Central and Eastern India. Heavy rain may be seen in Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh today. There are chances of light rain or drizzle in Delhi-NCR.
Heavy rain forecast in Bihar-Jharkhand
The effect of the weather system formed around the Bay of Bengal can be seen in Bihar, Jharkhand and surrounding Ganga plains. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Bihar on 19th and 20th August, while there may be heavy rain in Jharkhand between 20th and 22nd August.

Rain and strong winds are expected in many areas of West Bengal between August 19 and 24. At some places the wind speed can reach up to 50 kilometers per hour. There will be danger of thunder and lightning in Odisha also till 22nd August.
Weather will change in UP and MP also
Eastern Uttar Pradesh may see a period of heavy rain between 21st and 24th August. There are chances of rain in some areas of Western UP including Noida and Ghaziabad on August 19 and 22.
In Madhya Pradesh too, rain may continue in many districts. There is a possibility of rain in western MP on 23rd and 24th August, while in the eastern and western parts, warnings have also been given regarding storm, lightning and thunder. It may rain in Chhattisgarh on 21-22 August.
Weather may change again in Delhi
There is less chance of heavy rain in Delhi-NCR today, but light showers may occur. There is a rain alert in Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh on 19 and 22 August. There is a possibility of rain in Punjab on August 19.
Heavy rain in hilly states
Heavy to very heavy rains may continue at many places in Uttarakhand till August 24. There is also a danger of storm and lightning in some parts of the state. There is a possibility of rain in Jammu and Kashmir till August 23 and in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh till August 22.
Apart from this, the weather is expected to remain active in the northeastern states till August 24. Rain and thunderstorms can be seen in many states including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura.
