New Delhi. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy to very heavy rain in 16 states. IMD has issued red alert for Eastern UP. According to IMD, the monsoon trough and the cyclonic circulation spread over North India are converging. This system will move through Jharkhand and Bihar and turn into a low pressure area. Due to which there is a possibility of heavy rain.
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be light rain in Delhi and NCR. The Meteorological Department has also said that there will be rain in Haryana and Punjab till August 22. It is expected to continue raining in Jammu and Kashmir till August 23. It may rain at many places including Himachal Pradesh's capital Shimla till August 22. IMD has given alert of heavy rain in Uttarakhand till August 24. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain in the western areas of Madhya Pradesh from Thursday onwards. Apart from this, rain will also be seen in East Madhya Pradesh. There may be light rain at many places in Rajasthan. At the same time, there are chances of heavy rain in Bihar till Thursday and in Jharkhand till Saturday. There are chances of rain in Chhattisgarh and Odisha also.
IMD estimates that moderate to heavy rains will continue in the northeastern states till August 24. There is a possibility of strong storm and lightning in all these states. The Meteorological Department had earlier said that this year there will be less than average rainfall in the monsoon season. This time the monsoon had reached Kerala four days late. Then after maintaining speed till Madhya Pradesh, it was halted for several days. Since then, it has been raining intermittently in large parts of the country. Whereas, due to continued heavy rains in Northeast India, the flood situation in Assam became serious. Monsoon rains in India last till September. In such a situation, rain is very important for the farmers growing paddy. If there is less than average rainfall, there will be a possibility of damage to the crop.
