Pickup hits e-rickshaw in Panna, nine laborers injured

A speeding pickup hit an e-rickshaw from behind on Tuesday night near Ludhgawan turn of Shahnagar police station area in Panna district of Madhya Pradesh.

Nine laborers riding an e-rickshaw were injured in the accident. When the condition of seven of them became critical, they were referred to District Hospital Katni after first aid. All the injured are said to be residents of Paraswara village.

According to the information, all were returning to their village Paraswara by e-rickshaw after working all day as laborers in Sarangpur. Meanwhile, at Ludhgawan turn near Vaishno Mata hill, Tata Loader pickup number MH 48 BM 2432 coming from behind hit the e-rickshaw hard. After the collision, the e-rickshaw overturned and all the people traveling in it were injured.

There was hue and cry on the spot after the accident. As soon as the information was received, the team of Dial-112 and Shahnagar police station reached the spot.

Constables Ravindra, Sohan Bhilala and Anuj showed promptness and took all the injured to Community Health Center Shahnagar, where doctors provided first aid.

The injured have been identified as Devkumar, Santkumar, Deepak, Vinod Kumar, Priya, Rajkumar, Shivakali, Keshakali and Nirbhay Singh. Seven seriously injured people were referred to District Hospital Katni for better treatment.

Here, after the accident, the pickup driver was trying to escape from the spot along with the vehicle. Shahnagar police chased and stopped the pickup near the petrol pump in Khadaula and took the driver into custody.

Police have seized the vehicle and started investigating the case. In the hospital, head constable Ishwar Dayal, Hemant Rawat and constable Rakesh recorded the statements of the injured. Police are investigating the causes of the accident and the role of the driver.
