Indian origin Piya Dandiya wins Democratic primary election in Florida, America

Washington, August 19, 2026: Indian-American Piya Dandiya has won the Democratic primary for Florida's 22nd Congressional District. Now in the elections to be held in November, he will face Republican Casey Oscar, who is a former Marine.

Dandiya won with 68.6 percent of the vote, defeating attorney Kessia Earley, who received 31.4 percent. According to the election campaign website, he became the founding principal of his school at the age of 28, making him one of the youngest high school principals in the country.

Dandiya, a former school principal, said, “Thank you Florida-22 for believing in this campaign. I am running for my students, my son and every child growing up in this area who deserves a better future.”

He said, “Together we will lead a movement to reduce spending, eliminate corruption, and make Washington work for us again. I am grateful for the opportunity to do this work with all of you.”

The Democratic National Committee had congratulated Dandiya on his victory in the primary elections. The committee said Pia, an academic and long-serving community leader, has dedicated her life to expanding opportunity and fighting for the rights of working families.

He is ready to fight to lower the cost of groceries, health care and housing for South Florida families.
