New Delhi. The Supreme Court has constituted a five-member High-Powered Inquiry Committee (HPEC) to investigate the allegations of alleged excessive use of force by the police and other security forces against the protesters during the CJP student movement in Jantar Mantar. The committee is headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice R. Subhash Reddy will do.

The committee includes former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Ravi Shankar Jha, former judge of Delhi High Court Justice Shalindar Kaur, former CBI Director Rishi Kumar Shukla and retired DGP of Meghalaya Dr. L.R. Bishnoi has been included.
These cases will be investigated
The committee will investigate the alleged excessive use of pellet guns, lathicharge, electric batons and tear gas during the police action. Apart from this, aspects like alleged violence against women protesters, police monitoring, methods of crowd control and timely treatment and compensation to the injured will also be looked into.
At the same time, the committee will also investigate the allegations made by the officers against the policemen of violence and damage to public property. Its purpose is to investigate all aspects of the entire matter and bring out the facts.
